My fear is that Fb will make the same exact mistake Google did - a misunderstanding of their company's value proposition to the Chinese people. Google thought they were offering a good search engine, when in fact, they were offering Freedom of Speech and Press. Once they sacrificed their ethics out of desperation to exploit the Chinese people, they delivered exactly what the Chinese already had: a censored search engine. To me it's obvious why Google failed.

I fear Facebook will follow in their same footsteps, misunderstanding the essence of what they offer the world - a taste of Freedom and American culture. If they don't understand this and censor once they're public, then Fb will fail too.

One of my biggest concerns is the CCP having access to Google and Fb's user data, whether in China or abroad. It's my understanding that the US gov't can request user data from Google if it's to "protect the State." It concerns me to think that Google and Fb will comply when the CCP requests user data for the same reason.

I'm very interested in this topic. Please email me if you have the time to inform me of any new updates. Cheers.

You can bypass all Internet restrictions in China with a VPN Service like http://highspeedvpn.info/, so I wouldn`t worry much..
