June 1st marked the end of over two months of a state of emergency in Bahrain. Despite the push from the Bahraini government to convince the world that things are back to normal, the situation on the ground has not improved. The motivations behind lifting the oxymoronic “state of national safety” may have been more of economic interest than a real assessment of the country’s stability. Listen to this week’s podcast and learn more about Bahraini human rights defenders cope with the continuing crackdown post-June 1st.

Formula 1’s decision to restore and then immediately cancel the Bahrain Grand Prix this year is yet another PR setback for the government, as they failed to convince the international community that the country is safe enough for such an event. What is very clear is that the crackdown continues to be rampant in Bahrain, suppressing the pro-democracy movement using fear and violence.

    State of Emergency was declared on March 15, 2011 and ended on June 1, 2011. That’s 2 and half months not 4 months. Either you publish the true facts or don’t bother with journalism at all !!!

    I am a Bahraini citizen and I,m very desiponted in your report because it’s you write te protesters story which is full of lies and fuls information I hope you can came to Bahrahin and see the trough be you slef, we are living safe Becouse of the army and policy after to protesters vilayed our life buting all of us in danger and culling the policy member and they still claming that they are pecfulle protestor

    See. freedom is our right but i am not the fever of over freedom. like some time media is telling lie. because they are liers other thing is small thing chage in to big matter this is the always role of media.

    Very important thig is I am a Indian I know better democracy but I am total against of democracy because when Democracy will come automatically curruption will be increased.

    Those who do not see should come from another planet, specially those who unblieve in democracy. Democracy is a human been mind development, a human moral (present of US in Turkey). What mention in the report represents the truth about what’s going on in Bahrain ” I don’t think Mr. Dooley brought by the regime or opposition party in Bahrain”; so he is an independent witness of what is going on in Bahrain like the other loyal repoters, for example, Mr. Robert Fisk who has been respected by people for his loyality in transfaring the real image of real events.
