Human Rights First’s International Legal Director Gabor Rona joined Philip Gourevitch of The New Yorker among others in a panel event at the American Red Cross in New York entitled, Can the Geneva Conventions Still Protect Civilians and Non-Combatants in Contemporary Warfare?
Rona discussed how human rights conventions and major relief agencies such as the Red Cross are being challenged by contemporary warfare—including in Syria.
