Refugee Protection ProgramOn March 29, Anne C. Richard was confirmed by voice vote by the U.S. Senate to serve as the Assistant Secretary of State of Populations, Refugees and Migration (PRM). Human Rights First commends Ms. Richards on this achievement and is confident that she has the background, experience and vision to be a strong leader in the protection of refugees and migrants at the U.S. Department of State. Ms. Richards was nominated by President Obama on November 4, 2011 and approved by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee 6 weeks ago.
Ms. Richard has served as the Vice President of Government Relations and Advocacy for the International Rescue Committee (IRC) since 2004, and previously served as Director of the Office of Resources, Plans and Policy at the Department of State.
The organization also thanks Ambassador David Robinson for his interim leadership as Acting Assistant Secretary.
