The 2001  Awardrecognized the courage of human rights champions Salma Sobhan of Bangladesh, Amchok Thubten Gyamtso of Tibet, and Francisco (Pacho) de Roux , S.J. of Colombia. These remarkable individuals have defined new frontiers in making rights real for the most disenfranchised among us - whether communities divided by political and civil unrest, economic injustice or gender violence.
