Tom Bernstein was surprised on stage by Sonny Alvarez, his first asylum
client and good friend.

in Zimbabwe.

2002 Award Honoree, Saad Eddin Ibrahim, was released from jail earlier this
year and spoke at this year’s dinner. 
Michele Montas spoke about her involvement with Human Rights First. Michele, a journalist from Haiti, was one of our first asylum
clients. 
Archbishop Ncube, this year’s honoree, meets with Bill and Mary Anne
Ford. Bill has been involved with Human Rights First for nearly 25 years
in seeking justice for his sister, Ita Ford, and the other churchwomen murdered
in El Salvador in 1980.
Mike Posner and Fiona Doherty talk with Geraldine Finucane before the program.
Geraldine took part in the program and spoke about her work with Human Rights First to reveal the truth about her husband, Patrick
Finucane’s murder.  Board
members Donald Donovan from Debevoise and Plimpton and James Ziglar, former
Commissioner of the INS. Jim spoke at the dinner about his experience working
with Human Rights First while at the INS.
