As a Program Assistant, Jorge Aguilar provides comprehensive legislative, research, and programmatic support to the advocacy efforts of Human Rights First’s Washington, D.C. office. Before joining Human Rights First, Mr. Aguilar was a program assistant at the Center for Post-Conflict Peace and Stability Operations of the U.S. Institute of Peace, where Mr. Aguilar researched post-conflict governance issues in Afghanistan. Mr. Aguilar was also a research assistant to Dr. Jerrold Post, director of The George Washington University’s Political Psychology Program, for whom Mr. Aguilar conducted research on the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia and translated Spanish-language materials. Mr. Aguilar has interned at the U.S. Committee for Human Rights in North Korea and the State Department’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security’s Public Affairs Office.

He received his A.B. from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and was a visiting student at Oxford University, where he studied constitutionalism under the director of Oxford’s Centre for Socio-Legal Studies. Mr. Aguilar is fluent in Spanish and is proficient in French and Japanese.
