Alexis A. Aronowitz A criminologist based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Alexis A. Aronowitz has been working as a consultant for Human Rights First since October 2005. In this capacity she has conducted research on official monitoring and data collection, and responses of the criminal justice system to combating bias-motivated violence in European countries. Alexis is an internationally recognized expert on human trafficking and has published widely on issues ranging from establishing police priorities to tax fraud and right-wing extremism in Germany. Over the past decade she has worked as a project officer for the Dutch Police Research Program and the Dutch Ministry of Justice, as a researcher for the Rotterdam Anti-discrimination Action Council, and as a research expert and consultant in human trafficking for the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. Alexis currently teaches courses in criminology and violence at University College Utrecht and serves as a Member of the Advisory Council of the Magenta Foundation. She received her Master's and Ph.D in Criminal Justice from the University at Albany in New York.
