Catherine Carpentieri
Director, Development and Marketing
Joined Human Rights First in 2007

As Director of Development and Marketing at Human Rights First, Catherine is responsible for all of the organization’s development efforts, including fundraising and constituency-building. She has over twenty years of experience in nonprofit development, with a focus on major individual giving, institutional giving, and direct response fundraising.

Prior to joining Human Rights First, Catherine was the Deputy Executive Director for Development at Amnesty International USA for twelve years and a member of the organization’s senior management team. Under her management, the development office raised 95% of the organization’s $40 million budget annually through a full service effort that included major gifts, planned giving, foundation giving, and implementation of the organization’s robust direct mail program. She launched the organization’s first successful comprehensive campaign and spearheaded the organization’s efforts to grow online fundraising.

Prior to her work at Amnesty, Catherine had extensive experience in the environmental community and in other non-profit arenas as well. Catherine holds a B.A. in English and American Literature from Hofstra University.
