Joined Human Rights First in 2007

As program associate in the New York Refugee Protection Program, Andrew C. Thomas provides comprehensive support to Human Rights First's asylum legal representation program. His work includes interviewing prospective clients, coordinating case placement, and supporting the work of pro bono attorneys throughout their representation of asylum seekers.

Prior to joining Human Rights First, Andrew worked as a paralegal and Spanish-language translator for the full-service immigration law firm of Masliah & Soloway, where he worked closely with staff attorneys and clients on sexual-orientation based asylum cases. Previous to his work in immigration law, Andrew lived and worked in León, Nicaragua, as a volunteer tour guide for QuetzalTrekkers.  He guided hikes to the volcanoes in and around the city as a means of raising money for a local charity aimed at improving the lives of local street children.

Andrew has studied abroad in Norway and Spain; he received his B.A. from the University of Michigan in 2005 in Political Science and Anthropology.
