Maggie Barnard

Development Coordinator

As Development Coordinator, Maggie Barnard serves as the logistical lead for the Human Rights First Awards Dinner, law firms and corporations, and manages the organization-wide database. Maggie works in tandem with the senior manager of special events, law firms and corporations to plan, strategize, and execute fundraising events. Maggie coordinates donor recognition and creates reports through various database management methods.

Maggie has been involved in international human rights advocacy and development for over eight years. Maggie has worked as a job developer and refugee case manager with Catholic Charities Migration and Refugee Services, and served on the grant management team with the Office of International Research Collaboration. As country specialist for Tanzania and Kenya with Amnesty International and as a Fulbright Fellow in Tanzania in 2014, Maggie is an expert in East African politics and relations and speaks fluent Swahili.

Maggie holds a B.A. in comparative cultures and politics from the James Madison College at Michigan State University. In her free time, Maggie volunteers as an interpreter for the New York Mayor’s Office of Immigration Affairs.
