Mary Elizabeth Margolis

Senior Director, Communications

Mary Elizabeth oversees the development and implementation of Human Rights First's external communications strategies focused on influencing change, bolstering the organization's advocacy agenda, and elevating the organization's brand with policy makers, the legal community, supporters, and donors. She directs Human Rights First’s communications team, comprised of media relations, digital media, video production, design, and writing professionals.

Prior to taking on this role, Mary Elizabeth served as Human Rights First’s director of communications strategies and media, directing the organization’s press strategy and executive positioning efforts. Before joining Human Rights First, Mary Elizabeth was Senior Account Executive at North 6th Agency, a New York City based public relations agency, where she managed the execution of comprehensive public relations programs for a diverse set of clients. She began her career working on Capitol Hill with a fellowship with Senator Jim Inhofe (R-OK), followed by positions in issue advocacy for the Business Institute for Political Analysis (BIPAC) and Story Partners, LLC, a DC based public affairs firm.

Mary Elizabeth graduated summa cum laude from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Business Administration.
