Mona Sutphen

Mona Sutphen is a partner with Macro Advisory Partners and serves on the President Obama’s Intelligence Advisory Board. Previously, she served as managing director at UBS Financial Services, Inc. Mona has significant government experience; she served in the White House as President Obama’s deputy chief of staff for policy from 2009 to 2011 and spent nine years as a  foreign service officer, two of which she spent on the staff of the National Security Council. Mona also worked in the State Department's Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor and at the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok. From 2001-2008 she was managing director of Stonebridge International, a Washington-based business strategy consulting firm.

Mona serves on the board the International Rescue Committee. She is co-author (with Nina Hachigian) of The Next American Century: How the U.S. Can Thrive as Other Powers Rise and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Mona is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College and the London School of Economics.
