Human Rights Defenders in Turkey

Human Rights First has campaigned for years on behalf of Turkish human rights activists suffering persecution because of their defense of human rights and the rule of law. Despite ambitious promises of reform made by successive governments in Turkey, torture, unfair trials and restrictions on non-violent freedom of expression remain widespread problems. The Human Rights Defenders Initiative focuses on those who suffer persecution because of their activities combating the persistent problem of torture.
