U.S. Citizen Jose Padilla Finally Charged After Being Held in Legal Limbo for More Than Three Years

More on Padilla

Human Rights First welcomes the Government's long-overdue decision today to afford U.S. citizen Jose Padilla access to the U.S. justice system. It is long past time for Mr. Padilla to have his day in court. It remains to be seen whether it is possible now to repair the damage done to the rule of law and the cause of justice by the past years worth of indefinite detention, incommunicado interrogation, and denial of the most basic due process rights.
