Albright, Hagel, Experts to Discuss Human Rights and the National Security Challenges During Obama's First 100 Days
WASHINGTON—Former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright and Senator Chuck Hagel (R-NE) will join a distinguished group of retired military leaders, interrogators, prosecutors, experts and activists to discuss how President Obama and the new administration have navigated the intersection between national security and human rights during the first 100 days of the new Administration and the challenges that lie ahead on Tuesday, April 21st. The half day conference – National Security & Human Rights: A Look at the First 100 Days of the Obama Administration – is hosted by Human Rights First. It will take place at the Freedom Forum at the Newseum, 555 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, from 8:30 am – 1:30 pm. Media coverage is welcome, but advance registration is required. Secretary Albright and Senator Chuck Hagel will speak during lunch and breakfast, respectively. In between, two additional panels will be held – “Realigning Human Rights and National Security” and "The International View" – with interrogators, prosecutors, retired military leaders experts on world opinion, and human rights activists from the United States and abroad.
