Fighting for LGBTI Equality

Sexual minorities are under attack in Uganda. Not only is homosexuality already illegal, but the government may reconsider a bill that punishes consensual same-sex acts with life in prison, or the death penalty.

Members of the LGBTI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex) community and their supporters have been illegally detained, interrogated, and beaten, forcing them into hiding.

Human Rights First awarded LGBTI activist Julius Kaggwa with our human rights award in 2010. Read his testimony—and watch our video outlining the problem.
