Tad Stahnke at Secretary Clinton's Strategic Dialogue with Civil Society

Human Rights First is part of the Federal Advisory Committee for Secretary’s Clinton Strategic Dialogue with Civil Society—an effort by the U.S. State Department to expand engagement with civil society around the world.

At the inaugural session, Human Rights First’s Director of Policy and Programs Tad Stahnke welcomed the efforts of Secretary Clinton to develop better relationships with civil society, but also raised the issue of how current U.S. policies abroad make it difficult to do human rights work. Stahnke also suggested that other government entities such as the Departments of Defense, Commerce, Labor and, Treasury should open up opportunities for strategic discussions with civil societies.
