Scott Ventrudo is a Staff Attorney in the Los Angeles office of Human Rights First. He provides representation to asylum seekers in the Los Angeles area as well as support to pro bono attorneys from law firms who represent asylum seekers before United States Citizenship and Immigration Services and the Executive Office for Immigration Review.
Prior to joining Human Rights First, Scott was involved in immigration-related legal work with the federal government. He worked as an Asylum Officer in San Francisco, interviewing affirmative asylum applicants and making determinations on their applications for asylum. He also served as an Attorney Advisor at the San Francisco Immigration Court, drafting decisions for immigration judges on several types of applications for relief from removal and motions pending before the Court. In that role, Scott also updated immigration judges on developments in Ninth Circuit and BIA immigration case law and presented on topics including motions and bars to relief.
Scott is a graduate of the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where he participated in the Refugee and Human Rights Clinic. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Romance Languages/International Affairs from The Colorado College, in Colorado Springs, CO. He is fluent in Spanish and Italian.
