Sugeily provides legal support to asylum seekers in the Washington D.C.-Baltimore metro area. She works closely with asylum-seeking clients and pro bono attorney and co-leads a project to connect asylum seeking families in Maryland to legal services through know-your-rights presentations, legal screenings, and pro se workshops. In addition to conducting initial screenings and intakes, she assists with outreach and case placement for asylum-seeking clients.
Prior to her work on the Refugee Representation team, Sugeily was an associate with the Anti-Trafficking Campaign at Human Rights First, providing strategic, organizational, written, and advocacy support, and managing relationships with survivor advisers.
Before joining Human Rights First, Sugeily worked as the events coordinator at the Center for Latin American Studies at Georgetown University. Sugeily previously spent time at Vontobel Asset Management in New York, working with the finance, marketing, and portfolio management teams.
Sugeily earned her Master’s degree in Latin American Studies and a Certificate in Refugee and Humanitarian Emergencies from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. She also has a dual Bachelor of Arts in Hispanic and International Studies from Trinity College. Sugeily speaks Spanish fluently.
