Despite a long history of persecution and marginalization, tireless activists and members of the Caribbean LGBT community are working to change the trajectory of the rights of LGBT individuals, opening spaces for dialogue, advocating for equal rights for LGBT populations, and working to ultimately change laws. Human rights activists from the region will discuss on-the-ground challenges, ongoing efforts of civil society groups, and the ways in which collaboration among members of civil society in the U.S. and the Caribbean, as well as work with Members of the U.S. Congress, can promote respect for the human rights of all citizens.
