World Refugee Day: Working Together to Uphold U.S. Commitments to Protect Refugees

Panel Discussion and Reception to Follow

On World Refugee Day, Human Rights First will host a panel to discuss current challenges to the asylum system, including family separation and the increased use of detention, and ways in which our community is responding to those challenges and renewing our commitment to protect refugees. Human Rights First will present key findings from “Ailing Justice: Texas,” a report outlining legal representation gaps, due process challenges and medical care deficiencies facing asylum seekers and other immigrants held in Texas detention facilities. We will also highlight innovative collaborative efforts in the Houston area to increase representation rates for detained immigrants.
