Human Rights First Marks the 17th Anniversary of the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks

Washington, D.C. – Today Human Rights First issued the following statement marking the 17th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, that resulted in the deaths of nearly 3,000 people:

On this anniversary we remember the victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks and the brave men and women we have lost in the line of duty protecting our nation in the past 17 years. We express our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, and offer our support and gratitude for all who continue to guard our freedom and security at home and abroad.

Today, as we pause to honor the memory and sacrifice of those we have lost, we recommit ourselves to honoring the victims’ memory and sacrifice by working to reclaim our nation's role as a world leader in the struggle for human rights, tolerance, and religious freedom. We must remember that the United States is strongest when we adhere to our ideals and the rule of law.
