Objecting to "Remain in Mexico" at the Fifth Circuit

The Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) also known as the "Remain in Mexico" policy was a humanitarian catastrophe: asylum seekers were murdered, raped, kidnapped, extorted, and compelled to live in squalid conditions where they faced significant procedural barriers to meaningfully presenting their protection claims.

Human Rights First, former immigration judges, and other non-governmental organizations filed this amicus brief in support of the Biden administration's request for an emergency stay of a district court ruling finding that the termination of MPP was unlawful and ordering the government to reinstate it.
