Veterans Speak Out

"The generous welcome I received is what inspired me to give back to our country and protect it from enemies foreign and domestic." —Emir Hadzic, USMC Veteran, Bosnian Muslim Refugee

Through Vets for American Ideals, a project of Human Rights First, veterans are coming together under the belief that America is its strongest and most secure when its policies and actions match its ideals.

Muslim Americans proudly serve in our military, and many more Muslim allies from other nations fought alongside us in Iraq and Afghanistan. As veterans, we’re speaking out against Islamophobia in the name of American values, national security, and our common humanity.
