2025 Global Magnitsky and Targeted Sanctions Report

View report

We advance accountability for serious human rights abuses and corruption by promoting the strategic use of targeted sanctions. Through engagement with governments and civil society partners, we strengthen Global Magnitsky–style sanctions programs and similar authorities worldwide to ensure perpetrators face meaningful consequences.

Human Rights First serves as the U.S. co-chair of a global coalition of more than 340 civil society organizations advocating for targeted human rights and anti-corruption sanctions. We develop evidence-based sanctions recommendations, engage policymakers, and equip advocates with the tools needed to pursue accountability.
